Microsoft Universal Print is a multi-tenant, cloud-based, modern print service that runs entirely on Microsoft Azure. It’s fully integrated with Azure Active Directory and supports single sign-on scenarios.   When deployed with Universal Print–compatible printers, it doesn’t require any on-premises infrastructure. It can also be deployed with non-compatible printers by using Universal Print connector software. Organizations can use it to manage their print infrastructure through cloud services from Microsoft.   This solution is a Microsoft 365 subscription-based service that organizations can use to centralize print management through the Universal Print portal. Pre-requisites include:
  • Window 10 client device
  • Version 1903 or later
  • Universal Print Connector host
Universal Print offers a modern print experience for education and commercial customers. It enables print administrators to register printers with Azure Active Directory and manage them through the Universal Print online portal. Azure AD users can easily find and print to those printers. This is the stand-alone version of Universal Print; if you have a Windows or Microsoft 365 subscription, you may already own this benefit. Universal Print includes a base set of print-jobs that renews every month with your subscription. Universal Print for GCC (Government Private Cloud) provides all the functionality of its enterprise counterpart but is hosted in a separate, secured environment and adds compliance features like accreditations, personnel screening, and data residency that enable the service to meet the unique needs of US Government customers. State and local government customers that require compliance-level data protection and security can also take advantage of Universal Print for GCC (Government Private Cloud) . Eligibility and Validation: Government plans are available to (1) qualified government entities, including US federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial government entities, and (2) other entities (subject to validation of eligibility) who handle data subject to government regulations and requirements, where use of Government is appropriate to meet these regulations and requirements. Click on the links below for more information about GCC customer Eligibility and Validation. When completing the GCC approval form, please ensure that the customer name on the form is no longer than 50 characters. Please note: The approval and provisioning of net-new GCC tenants may take up to five (5) business days to complete.
